One of the most popular items and sometimes, giveaway, from the Houston Rockets each year, is the annual Houston Rockets Power Dancers Swimsuit Calendar. The beautiful ladies of our basketball team’s dance squad grace the pages of a 12-month calendar each year and the outcome never disappoints.
For this year’s calendar, the squad traveled to Louisiana and did their photo sessions on a beautiful golf resort — it was the first time the calendar had been shot at a location outside of Houston. Take a look here for some behind-the-scenes video of the photo shoots.
This year was also the first year that the Rockets held a live reveal of the calendar and its cover model. The team allowed the fans to vote for which of the Power Dancers they thought should be the cover girl for the calendar and invited everyone out to the House of Blues where the calendar and cover winner would be revealed.
Several Rockets fans, friends and family of the dancers filled the Peacock Room on the third level of the House of Blues, all anxiously awaiting the calendar reveal. After a quick opening performance on stage, the ladies were introduced individually to the crowd wearing the outfits that they wore for the calendar. Then, following a few interviews and more behind-the-scenes videos, the three cover girl finalists, Yasmine, Laura and Alysse, were brought on stage for the much anticipated announcement.
And with the drop of the curtain, a larger-than-life poster revealed the gorgeous Alysse as the 2012 Houston Rockets Power Dancer Calendar cover girl! The petite power dancer beamed at the announcement with the smile that likely won her the cover as the other girls surrounded her with congratulatory hugs.
The event ended with the team signing calendars for every fan in attendance — including one for this happy MHLer!
