MyHoustonLife goes to the Art Festival

We made it out to Memorial Park today to take in the sights and sounds of the Bayou City Art Festival. As usual, the bi-annual art festival is a grand celebration of the arts.

Although the Fall festival, which was held in Downtown, was wildly successful; this Spring re-incarnation of the event amidst the greenery of the park held a much more tranquil and artsy feel to it.

The park setting also allowed for festival-goers to become more engrossed into the arts with the addition of several interactive areas.

There was art being crafted during the event!

There is also a huge arts and crafts tent where kids can get there hands into anything from paint to loads and loads of glitter -by the way, good luck getting all that glitter off you once its on you… that stuff shows up in the oddest places…

And when you finish browsing through the acres of tents filled with art from local and national artists, make sure to set time aside to take in some of the several musical and dance performances throughout the festival.

Be sure to sample the food available at the festival before you wrap up your time there! You can get anything from sushi to tacos to a gyro at the festival’s food area. Most dishes went for below 10 bucks a plate.

Alright Houstonians! Get out to the Bayou City Art Festival! You still have time! The festival opens at 10AM on Sunday and will end at 6PM. Entry tickets cost $10 for adults and kids under 12 get in free. Be sure to avoid the Memorial Park traffic and lack of parking by taking advantage of the festival shuttles, which run from the Theater District in Downtown.
